Me do it!
So here is a great example of what I deal with on a minute to minute basis. This kid does everything on his own-- from getting himself a drink by climbing up on the counter and getting a cup and then walking over to the sink and filling his cup-- to as you can see climbing up his "ladder" in the pantry to get himself a treat.

Bittersweet News!

Yesterday the prophet Gordon B Hinckley died. This news was bittersweet. He now gets to be with his wife and loved ones again but he leaves us behind. I have to say that he was an amazing man. he did so much for the Church and was such a loveable guy. He seemed like a teddy bear. He had so much wit and wisdom. He always made me laugh. I will miss him as our prophet but I know he goes onto a better place. I feel blessed that we had him for as long as we did.

Endorsement
So I have decided to just fully invest myself and come out and just say it-- I am going to vote for Obama if and when I get the chance in the general election. I wish I could in the primary-- and on Monday I will look into to see if it is not too late. The problem is I am not a registered democrat-- in fact I am not even a democrat. I am undeclared because I have felt very strongly about choosing the candidate not the party. I must say though in high school I was Young Republican President and on Orrin Hatch't Youth Advisory Committee. I have come a long way from my younger days and really don't align with a party. (In all fairness I do lean republican most of the time) But this day is different. I want a change i don't want the next 8 years to be another Clinton-- if you can imaginr if that were to happen that would mean that between the Bushs and the Clintons they will have run our country for 28 years. I also feel a strong connection to Obama. When he is speaking I can't take my eyes off him and I am just drawn to him and his family. They just seem charismatic and different then anything out there. So with that said-- I am for Obama! If he does not make the nomination I will be sad but I will have to reevaluate the candidates when that occurs. I am sure you will all be waiting for that endorsement then. Until then-- Go Obama!

3 Steps Forward-- one step back!
So a quick update on the potty training! I must say that he has been doing swell-- in fact I almost went so far as saying he was there but yesterday we had a set back-- I was busy cleaning, emailing, etc and neglected to ask him for awhile if he needed to go potty. I mistakenly thought that since he has been doing it on his own at home a lot of times without being asked I just got too comfortable. Anyway, he had an accident which I blame on myself. But maybe 45 minutes later he had a really small one again! Urgh! I feel like we are almost back to square one. Today we woke up dry (a whole week of waking up dry) so I was excited we were still dry at night I am really close to calling it quits with the pull ups now because they haven't been needed. Anyway, again I got busy and he had gone a little bit ago. Anyway, he calls me into his playroom and tells me he pooped! Urgh-- it is only his second #2 accident ever! Urgh! I just need people to tell me it is normal and we aren't regressing. I just need to keep reminding him right?

Candidate Calculator
Okay so I was watching like the Today Show or some morning show the other day and they talked about a candidate claculator that you can go to online and fill out a questionaire and then it will match you to the candidate you most relate to. It was fascinating because I was told on two different sites that my points most closely match Mike Huckabee and I gotta tell you-- I am on the fence between Barrack Obama and Mitt Romney-- (I know complete opposites but I just think they are both a change in Washington and just very polished and great looking)! I really want Obama over Hillary-- anyway, imagine my shock when they say I have alligned with Mike Huckabee-- my last choice! Surpeisingly Obama and Romey were in the top five with above 80% matches. I just was a little shocked because I thought he was more conservative then I am. I would love to hear what everyone else found out. Go to google and type candidate calculator and see if you allign with who you thought. By the way 80% is close enough for me-- can't do the Huckabee thing-- sorry!
Where is the time going?
I cannot believe we are already almost through another month. Just to give you a quick update, Chase is recovered from his rsv thing but his sleep now is very spotty. He'll sleep really good then wake up and want tickles or me to hold him but the best is last night for the first time he woke up and needed to go potty so I took him and he woke up dry in the morning! He hasn't had an accident since Friday which we had a babysitter and he didn't quite make it-- which set him off and my mom had to come get him because he couldn't be consoled. He hates it when he has accidents. He just gets really upset with himself-- which I think is sad but it really helps his progress. I think I can honestly count all his accidents since day one on two hands.
Anyway, I am announcing that this is my first blog on our new computer with our newly installed high speed internet. I am loving it and excited to be able to get back to my "whenever I want" blog/ email thing!
And lastly, I have failed to mention our new church calling-- we are teachers in the primary. That will make 7 going on 8 years there. We got the CTR 6 and they are really cute kids. I do have to admit that I was not wanting the primary for sheer fact that the majority of my adult life has been spent there-- in fact I have almost spent the same amount of time as a child there now as I have an adult. But I am making it work and getting more excited about then at first. It is our own fault because we have moved sort of a lot and I tell you the primary leaders are pirhannas to newcomers in the ward so I wasn't shocked when we got the calling. But the bright side is it usually doesn't require too much work just a lesson each Sunday-- the biggest pain is finding subs when you are leaving town. At least Randy is my partner.
I am leaving you with a picture of Chase who was watching a movie and wanted his dinosaur and animals to watch too bundled up next to him with a blanket. Too cute!

Still prisoner!
Okay so Chase is really getting the hang of this potty thing. He has gone 3 whole days without any accidents and today he even went fully clothed into the bathroom by himself just walked right past me and shut the door took of his clothes and pooped! But the bad news is I am still prisoner this week because he has been pretty sick the last few days and we took him to the doctor today who told us that Chase is in the end stages of rsv which is crazy because he has had a really bad cuogh and a low grade fever that was relieved with motrin but he was still playing and eating etc! Anyway, we celebrated Randys 32nd birthday on Sunday and I had a great blog all planned out but due to these last few days I am putting it on hold! So happy late birthday Randy-- we love you for all that you do for us and thank you for being my best friend!

Potty Prisoner
So this week I decided to start the potty training process and it is going really well-- actually a lot better than I ever expected however, I have not really been leaving the house because I don't want to push my luck yet. We have not had any #2 accidents at all-- he has successfully done that 5 times on the potty and three of those times was without me helping him he just has been going there on his own. That being said I have just been letting him be naked on the bottem half of his body and that has really worked once I put underwear on him that is when he has had a few accidents but he is really seeming to get it and has started grasping the "hold it" thing-- I do have to say the hardest part is just that all I personally can think of is does he need to go potty-- even if he just went 5 minutes before! Please tell me it gets better! So that is the explanation of why it has been a few days of reading and writing blogs-- I have been held prisoner!

Happy 2008
So I hope all of you have had a great holiday season because we have. I have to be honest though I am ready to settle down and get back to real life again. Anyway, santa did make it and he did bring Chase his Pirate Ship which was a hit! He also has enjoyed his Hungry ippo game which he calls the marble game sometimes and one day he woke up and gave the game a hug and said, "I missed you marble game!" Too cute. I have decided to download some picts of all our recent activities, including our New Years activities. We spent the night at our friends house in Sundance and played all sorts of outdoor activities from snowmobiling to sledding then we had a delicious dinner made by Emily and then played games into the new year! We had a great time!
