Let the Fiestas Begin

So Chase doesn't turn three until the first but we have already had two birthday parties for him. I know we have gone overboard with all the parties but the "friends" party was actually just a lucky break on our part. My dad bid on a Backyard Adventure party at a UVSC Athletics auction and won the bid so Chase got to benefit from his winnings. We invited all his cousins and a few friends some from Little Gym class and others from play groups etc. Anyway, we had a great time. Basically it is an indoor playground with a huge backyard play area. The kids just ran around sensless while the adults got to sit in the eating area and mingle. I definitley recommend this place for future use.



Today we celebrated party #2 at Grandma Chrissy's. He had a blast and got a little spoiled. Brooke gave him a "frog catcher" as he calls it and Brooke will be happy to know he said that was his favorite. Kelli and Brian and the gang gave him a really cool Jack Sparrow sword which he is very excited about. Grandma and Grandpa gave him a fun water table for the backyard-- which he insisted we fix right away. He played with it for a half hour in our bathroom. (It is too cold to go outside today-- we woke up with like 2-3 inches of snow which is still there now.) He also got a cool outdoor chair and a teeball set which he got right to work on as well. All in all he is one lucky boy to have such good friends and family who love him. Thanks to everyone who shared in one of his three days. (We will celebrate with Grandpa and Grandma Bum on his real birthday which is Tuesday.)

Busy Week

So I have had a long but busy week. On one hand I have had to deal with Chase and his recovery process. He is doing a lot better now. We did have to take him to the ER at 4 in the morning the other day because he hadn't pooped for a week and the childrens suppository thing hadn't worked. But after a quick trip to the hospital and a childrens laxitive later he finally had success. It is amazing the things that make you happy as a parent-- who knew that one day I would be high fiving a poop! Anyway, he is still not 100% but he is getting there. I think the hardest part has been his clinginess and that all the sudden he has decided he is shy. People come to visiti and he hides-- which has never happened before hopefully it is just the mood.

Anyway, we had book club last night and have decided to read Amazing Grace by Eric Metaxas. It is supposed to be about the man who wrote that song and the story behind it-- I guess there is a movie based on the book now so if I can't get through it I can cheat and watch the movie-- sort of like high school again right? jk If you have read it or heard about it I would love to know your thoughts-- just don't spoil any surprises. Tomorrow is one of three birthday parties (friends, and each family). He is really excited. I am sure there will be a post shortly on those.

So we have had a tough week. Chase has been a champ but he just doesn't feel good so we have been trying to get him as comfortable and happy as possible. We are going to have some bad habits to break him of. We have let him sleep in our bed all week which has been our number one no no since day one-- our sleep is just too important but this week we made an acception and it is going to be really interesting to see how we get him to go back to his lonely bed. We also have been putting up with every whine and request which is understandable but I have a feeling he may be getting used to it. Nonetheless-- life goes on and so we were lucky enough to have Chase start to be feeling somewhat better yesterday. We gave him motrin instead of the stronger prescription pain meds and it seemed to cut out the tiredness and whineyness-- so we followed through with the decorating of the eggs (with the help of Griffin and Caleb) and this morning we saw that the Easter Bunny had hidden the eggs for him. He found his basket filled with a few chocolate easter eggs and a Buzz Lightyear kite-- I am sure the Easter bunny would have left more candy such as the classic jelly beans but he remembered Chase still needed to eat softer things.



I hope you all have a happy easter. Things seem to be looking up over here-- slowly but surely we are getting through. I am just grateful for Chase's health and that all is well. I am known for quoting things I see on Oprah and the other day she had a fanily on that had just discovered their daughter had cancer and their whole lives were changed. It was so sad but it mad me realize how lucky I am that tonsils are the worst of it. We are really blessed and I thank my Heavenly Father every day! I am grateful for his life and for his sacrifice in death for me and my family. This is a great time to remember that sacrifice. Happy Easter everyone.

So we are alive and still going strong. Chase's surgery went great. We thought we were in for it when we checked in and they did some blood work by pricking his finger and extracting blood from his tiny prick and he was devastated and it took us a half an hour to get him composed again. So we were thinking we were really in for it but once they brought him back from the surgery he was a little sad and crying but I held him and he went back asleep for an hour and woke up pretty happy. They gave him a popcylce which made his day and juice then sent us on our way. He was spoiled by his grandparents-- one set of grandparents ( Grandma & Grandpa Bum) gave him a couple movies and a cool matchbox car toy thing which he slept with and the other grandparents (Grandma & Grandpa Chrissy) bought him a fur real puppy and kitty cat-- which he also slept with. Yesterday continued to be great but we have been warned that the worst days are days 3-5 so not really looking forward to that. Today he has been a champ. He has been pretty happy other then when we have to give his meds-- he hates that and it usually ends with both of us crying. Anyway, so far so good. Thanks for all your well wishes!

The Night Before

So Chase had his tonsils taken out today but last night we were invited to the Jazz game (thanks to the Lewis' and the Durrants) andyway, we had a fabulous time and it took our mind off the impending surgery. We got to bein the suites which is quite possibly the only way to go if you are taking a couple of two year olds. Chase had a great time eating popcorn and ice cream and shooting hoops with cousin Cooper. And the Jazz did win by a large margin over the Toronto Raptors and our former UV alum Ronnie Price had a pretty good game scoring 13 points.

Movie Mania

So Last Friday we got a babysitter and went to dinner and the movie Vantage Point. This Saturday we decided to do it again because Chase will be getting his tonsils out on Tuesday and we figure we will be stuck home for awhile. Seeing that the last movie before Vantage Point was something like Dan in Real Life (by the way, two thumbs up) it is a little crazy because we just don't see movies anymore. We want to see Juno but that is nearly out on video so we think we'll wait on that-- but do any of you have recommends?

We are also going to take Chase today after work to Horton Hears a Who. Hopefully that will be more enjoyable then the Bee Movie-- that was a huge disappointment.

I will say this I am looking forward to a few movies this summer namely Indiana Jones 4-- that was just a great series-- it has it all it has action, suspense, romance, humor, and some of the best movie soundtrack ever! May 22, 2008! Any babysitters interested in booking this far in advance?

I would also like to apologize my blog has been seemingly boring-- there just hasn't been to much excitement these last few weeks.

Chase's new thing

So Chase has discovered a good way to get our attention-- or so he thinks. If he wants to tell us something or get us to do something and we are not listening to him (usually because Randy and I are talking to each other) Chase will say really loud, "Mom, quick, I have a secret." Then when we go find out the secret it will be something like, "I love Jesus." I have no idea where this comes from but it is working."

So I got tagged by two different people so I guess I will fill it out. I am not big into these, mostly because my answers seem very boring compared to everyone elses exciting lives, but here goes:

My to do list today: gym, clean and vacuum house, maybe take Chase to park if weather continues to permit, make dinner, bathe and bedtime for Chase, watch Survivor with Randy.

Snacks I like to eat: what don't I like? Umm I like rice krispies, lately I have been into sugar coated cinnimon squares, and I can never turn down a good slice of a chocolate cake.

Places I have lived: Orem, Logan, Provo, and for 2 months Jerusalem if that counts.

Places I have visited: I love to travel so I have been many places-- Randy and I have a goal to see every baseball park and we/ I have seen about half of them so I won't go into all of those places but my faves are-- NYC, Boston, DC, Hawaii, Disneyland, Costa Rica, Mexico, Chicago-- I guess I love the big cities-- it is just fun. (Next stops for baseball need to be Seattle or Texas to visit some cousins and hit ball parks there.)(ie Wendy and Becky)

What would I do if I became a billionaire: well-- as I said I love to travel so I would travel, I would hopefully give lots to friends and family and charities etc, I would love to say I would spend a little but try to stay the same but realistically I would probably buy lots of toys like a boat or a cabin/ house in Hawaii or something-- but I would share it so that would be a nice thing for me to do right?

Jobs I have had: where to begin, I have had a lot! Hallmark gift wrap at Christmas time, Sundance play concessions, cook for Sigma Chi, shoe sales at Lamonts in Logan, Blockbuster (one of my favorites), Crest gas station (my least fave and I took it because my dad and I got into a fight because he thought since I got home from Isreal and had a month before I needed to go back to Logan that I needed a job which I thought was mean to take a job for only a month knowing I was quitting-- but my dad said that he saw a help wanted sign at Crest and that I was too good for it-- mocking me-- so I went and applied and got it but I hated every minute. the girls that I worked with were bullies and did not like me much so they made me do all the crappy jobs etc-- let's just say I was elated to go back to USU.), next job, JRiggins, Sears telecomunications (1 week), triconnections (helping mentally disabled independant living people--also lasted for one week), Inside/ Out Gymnastics, Premiere Products, Bennion Jr High, Timpview High-- those are all that I can remember but I swear there is more.

Things you probably don't know about me: I listen to talk radio-- mostly espn radio especially the Colin Cowherd show but I also love the political shows like Shawn Hannity, and Dennis Miller, etc. Another thing is I am very into politics-- I love msnbc, foxnews, and cnn and have been heavily engaged in the Clinton/ Obama race-- go Obama! Another thing is that I buy lots of scrapbooking stuff and never use it-- it is like an addiction or something-- same with books I will buy a book with all intentions to read it but I never get around to it. And lastly, I may come off very outgoing and free spirited but I can be insecure. I worry a lot about what others think of me and HATE confrontation.

Anyway, sorry-- now you can see why I hate the tagging thing-- I can't just answer with one word-- but oh well-- it can become a journaling thing. Congrats!

Yesterday was a big day for family members. First, after an intense couple of weeks, my nephew Lance and his running mate Kate won their bid to become vp and Pres. (Lance is the VP). We are so excited and happy for him. They made history by her becoming only the second female in Orem Highs over 50 year history. And the first ever girl/ boy-- boy, girl combo. Crazy-- Way to go Lance, we are proud of you.

We found out Lance's vistory at the half time of what may be the greatest high school basketball game ever. Lone Peak vs Davis. #1 vs #2 (unfortunatley playing in the semis rather than the championships.) Anyway, my brother in law Quincy coaches for LP and he won a squeeker in double over time by two when Tyler Haws hit a 10 footer that miraculously went in to win by 2. It was nuts. I have never been so emotionally drained then I was after that game. Davis was undefeated up until then and I give them props for being a pretty classy team. Now they have one more game tonight for all the marbles. Good job LP and good luck tonight! We are also proud of you Q! (and VERY proud of Debbie, who has been home all week with brand new baby. She has been the real champ! We love you Deb-- you are amazing! Quinc better know what an incredible wife he has! )
