Sunny Sunday

Today we decided to take advantage of our warm and sunny Sunday and go outside and play. After a little running around Randy decided to take a rest and Chase joined him. While sitting there Chase looked at me and said, "Hey Mom, take a picture!" and so I did. Then it was his turn to take a few-- so I have posted some of mine and some of his. See if you can tell which is which. I must say that every time a picture is taken he insists on seeing it. I have to laugh at the kids these days and the technology era in which they are growing up. I am not that old but the camera definitely says a lot about our age. One day I will hear myself saying, "I remember the cameras when I was growing up. We used to have to wait until we had taken 24 pictures on the film before we could get them printed and see how they turned out." And then our kids will just think we are so old-- like I did with my parents.

(I think we may have a photographer in the making!)

Got a headache!

So not much going on in the Ohran fam right now. The weather seems to slowly be getting better but I am having a really hard time with the slow part. Chase and I are getting cabin fever! Some of the highlights have been first-- go Utah Jazz-- they are up 2-0 to the Rockets in the first round of the play-offs-- but we can't get too excited because our prize if we win is that we get to meet the Lakers-- who by all accounts seem to be headed to another championship. I have faith that the Jazz can stop their momentum-- but can they get past them-- I guess we will see. It all reminds me of the lame democratic primary race going on right now-- which frankly I am soooo sick of. This process has just worn me out and basically turned me off of politics. I find it all disgusting. And I don't mean to offend any Hillary fans out there but I cannot stand her. She is the worst of them all. The tactics she is using to win the nomination have been deplorable. Urgh! I just don't understand the people voting for her. Especially at this point because it just seems to be hurting the democrats chances in November. The longer this goes-- regardless who gets the nomination-- the better John McCain looks. I do have to say though that I cannot waste any more time wondering/ worrying what is going to happen. It has come down to this-- who cares-- realistically will anything change?

So, now that that is said-- Survivor anyone? I must say the shocker ending last Thursday made me really mad but I will be even more mad if James is next. I guess we will see. I also saw a commercial advertising my favorite reality show of all-- So You Think You Can Dance (May 22)! Can't wait. As for American idol-- I am sorry to say that after last night Brooke White has run her course with me-- I like her sultry voice but I just have to say her good times have come to an end. Same goes for Jason Castro-- but I must say Carly S is my least fave!-- I would be happy with either David.

Anyway-- to top off this wonderfully boring post-- I have a headache and have no desire to make dinner-- I hope I can talk Randy into a Costa Vida run!

Recipe Club Blog-- All Invited!

Recipe Club-ALL INVITED!
So my friend Shannon and I are setting up a recipe club blog starting next month. Everyone is invited, even if you are a friend of a friend that we don't know. Everyone that wants to will be added as an "author" so we can all post on the blog. Here is the idea, every month there will be a theme, sometime during that month you need to make a post with one of your favorite recipes that fits into that theme. Please try and actually make the recipe that month so you can take a picture and we can see what the finish product should look like. Also on the side of the blog will be a helpful hints section, if you have something to add feel free! If you find a recipe during that month that you love and it doesn't fit in the theme-post it anyways! We need a name-any ideas?? If you are interested please put your email in the comment section-- or just email me. If you have a friend that would like to join add her name and email as well. Here are the themes for the rest of the year:

May-Beef Dish
June-Salad
July-Pasta
August-Dip or Dessert
September-Chicken Dish
October-Soup
November-Thanksgiving Recipe

Celebrity Look-alikes!

So Randy and I found a website that tells you which celebrities you closely resemble-- here are our results:
Randy's personal favorite was Bruce
Eddie Van Halen if you can't tell-- not really seeing the resemblance here.
So my personal favorite was Demi.
But when I saw this I have decided to go on a diet. Really... Nell Carter? Give me a break. However, LL Cool J was the male I most resemble. I am thinking the lighting must not be the best in the picture I sent.

Marcie's 30!

So I just wanted to give a shout out to my long time friend Marcie C! I am in the midst of hunting down photos but at the moment my scanner isn't hooked up so it may be a minute but I just wanted to say happy birthday. I have decided to write a few of my favorite memories-- keep in mind there are so many to choose from but here's a few:
  • Putting on the neighborhood dog show and mistakingly inviting the Swensons who brought their trained dog which ended up being the only other dog besides Poochie and Scotch and the Swenson dog obviously took first.
  • Who could forget the original American Idol/ Do You Think You Can Dance contests on my porch-- Heather J had to be invited.
  • The annual back to school fashion shows.
  • The Christmas morning compare and play day.
  • All the night games-- especially basketball at the Taylors.
  • All the ski trips but my favorite was when my parents were gone and I scrounged up like $20 all in change to go.
  • All the camping trips I got to come on-- especially the Arches where I learned my fear of heights and close spaces (Lemon Squeeze).
  • Staying back with Kristie on the days you biked the Arches.
  • All the Halloweens together but the year we decided to be grandparents and we found a little treat.
  • Playing quarters.
  • You deciding not to intervene on the fights between Kelli and me.
  • All the many sleepovers.
  • The tomatoe fight in your backyard and Kristie hitting my new levi jacket.
  • You shooting Kristie in the back of the knee with a bb gun.
  • "Chevy sucks, Ford Rules!"
  • Hiking Timp together.
  • USU together.

So many memories-- I seriously could go on and on-- but I am so grateful to have you as a friend. I loved every minute of the good old days. I can't believe we're 30! I hope you have a fabulous day and kow I am thinking of you!

Masters Mania

So now that March Madness is over one of my family traditions is watching with intensity the Masters. Every year it is a big event-- we even have pools where people pick some players and hope they do well as a team. It really spices the event up. Then we usually go iver to my mom and dad's on Masters Sunday and watch together. I must say growing up I had no interest in this event-- in fact, it was probably just my dads tradition but as I have grown to love the game of golf and understand it-- I really look forward to this tournament. Actually, all the golf majors are fun to follow. Anyway, with the emergence of Tiger Woods I am really hoping the field can keep it close and interesting. I think Tiger is an amazing golfer and I would even say the best ever, but I don't really cheer for him to win because as I have said in earlier blogs I am for the underdog and if tiger wins it seems boring. But that being said when he does win I am happy for him. Randy is a huge fan and is always rooting for Tiger. Any predictions?

Chase is "It"

Chase got tagged and gets to tell us 10 things about him-- most of which is not a shocker, but here goes:

  1. His favorite food is McDonalds nuggets.
  2. He LOVES Scooby Doo.
  3. He wants to be a pirate.
  4. He has to negotiate for everything--(ie one more time, or one more minute)
  5. He loves watching Curious George.
  6. He loves Disneyland and wants to go everyday.
  7. He loves the Pirate Song when driving in the car (the theme song for the ride at Disneyland).
  8. His favorite book is "A Very, Hairy, Scary Story."
  9. He loves riding his bike-- everywhere including inside-- not moms favorite.
  10. He loves being with his cousins and his dad-- he lights up around them.

Chase is now tagging-- Case, Paige, Lillie, Owen J, Owen K, Wyatt, Sophie, Owen S, Ella S, Ella B, Dallin, Kodiak, Cooper, and Snoop! (And anyone else Chase may have inadvertantly forgotten.)

Boys and Their Toys

So after we moved into our house we have been saving up to buy a new tv. About a month ago we decided we had reached our goal and could buy one-- so Randy went on the hunt. He spent nearly every night on the computer, on the phone, or in a store researching and deciding which one he wanted. He finally picked the right one and made the purchase only to find out that it was too big by even less than an inch. So he took it back and went with plan B which was essentially the same tv just that the speakers were not on the side (or so he says-- it is all mumbo jumbo to me!) So after a month of hard work he finally has his toy. Chase thinks it is his because it was hooked up on his birthday. We took the other one back yesterday and he was really concerned-- he said he didn't want the big tv to go back. Humm-- I guess like father like son-- oh, who am I kidding-- I love it too-- it really enhances the reality tv watching experience.
