We are the Champions!

Yesterday our wards men's basketball team won the REGION championships! They went undefeated for their season and had a great time doing it! Randy, my dad, and Dave all participated! It was really fun going and watching and sitting with the other wives and chit chatting as well! Now--I have to be honest and remind you that our victory came in large part to the very talented 6-10, former all star for the UV team in Dave! No one could stop him! The team they beat in the final game came close-- they too had a former UV player on their team named Peter Brown, and Dave fouled out with 3 minutes to go and we were only up 6! Yikes! But after a little bit of a scare the rest of the team pulled together to maintain the victory! Yay!

On a minor side note I do have to admit to a little skirmish on the sidelines that I participated in... one of the other teams fans yelled really loud for our team to shut up and play (which I found odd since I thought their team was the bigger complainers but I digress) so I turned around and told him, "Hey, let's keep this nice. that wasn't cool and pretty rude!" He didn't appreciate my concern and told me basically to stay out of it with an explicative laid somewhere in there. I, then, got a little more miffed because swearing at me is not something that I can be nice in return so I told him in no uncertain terms to lighten up or leave because he is not welcome if he can't be nice here. We don't appreciate the attitude etc. Anyway, that is pretty much where it stopped but I was even more ecstatic when we won to say the least! I do feel bad though! I really wish I would have just ignored it from the start! Live and learn.

One more side note-- I thought a reminder of who Dave is-- he is the guy who is our "brother" who lives in the basement of my mom and dad!

I Hope They Call Me on a Mission

So yesterday his call came in the mail-- funny thing is that it came to the neighbors house so when they checked the mail we did not think it came. Then the neighbor called saying that he had something that looked fairly important that was in his mail box! Anyway, we were all so anxious to see where he was going that we decided to make a party out of it! Lance and Tyler had half of Orem high and the other half were many family members and neighbors! Kelli had ordered 25 pizzas and bought lots of costco treats. I made a fruit pizza and brought over a map that everyone could make their guess of where he was going! When the big moment arrived to open it we were all gathered in their living room listening to him pronounce the city-- Tampico, Mexico! Apparently it is a coastal city/ state in Mexico right on the Gulf. It looks extremely pretty and is said to be a tourist spot even though I had never even heard of it! I am sure he may have a few accidents "falling" into the water. He will be Spanish speaking and reports July 29th! We will miss him greatly! I am so proud of him and think he will be an amazing missionary. He is a great example to his family and to us. He is a hard worker with a great heart! It will be tough for us to be without him for 2 years but we are excited for his fun adventure that he is about to pursue! The people of Tampico are very lucky!

St. George Trip #2

Well, another great vacay down south in the book! We had a fabulous time watching Ethen play baseball and just lounge around in the 80 degree weather! Oh it was terrific. I really did not take many pictures-- so here are the few I took! We took Chase's bike with us so he could ride around the path in the back yard. We also took a trip on over to Pirate Island Pizza which was another hit. They are getting one here in Orem so we are even more excited! Thanks to the Gary Watts Family for allowing us to stay in their amazing home. We just can't get enough!

10K Anyone?

The other day my friend Marie was talking about the Rex Lee Run and suggested that we run it too! Randy and I haven't really been training for a 10k but we both run quite a bit so we decided what he heck! I am so glad we did! It was really fun and we are looking forward to more of them in the future. We are both relatively happy with our times, however, we now have times to beat. Randy finished in 53 minutes and I was 6 minutes behind-- coming in just under one hour at 59 minutes!

It's that time again!

Well, it is that time of year-- again! One of my favorite things about sports. As most of you know I love sports, that said there are very few things that are as exciting as March Madness. Especially those first and second rounds watching as your brackets either explode with victories or implode with wild upsets you didn't pick. The best is when you actually did pick the upset that no one else did! March is just a fun month. Not only is the sun trying to kill all the grey snow and you can get outside and start to enjoy the beginning of spring but you are covered in the craziness of college basketball. Even now, watching as each conference holds their own championships and crossing your fingers that it goes as planned because with each upset you know that that is one less chance for your team to get in if it is considered a bubble team-- that infamous bubble. So far already a few teams have made their own dream come true by outlasting their competition. I am hoping the Aggies of USU won't be on that bubble and will dominate in Reno, otherwise it may be another NIT year for them! Yay, a chance to be the 65th best team in the nation! Oh what a time! Who will it be this year? Who will have those CBS highlights with "One Shining Moment," being played? I can't wait to see the pairings and begin the pickings! If you want in on predictions give a holler! The more the merrier!

This Week:

So this week has been sort of crazy. It was the high school basketball state tournie all week which kept us busy as Lone Peak fans. They were going for their third straight state title which made the week that much more exciting. Unfortunately, they lost in the championship game to West Jordan. I must say that ever since Quincy became the coach we have not really learned much about losing. Especially as of late. It was definitely unexpected but it will only make those victories in the future that much more meaningful. Despite the loss they had a tremendous season and we are so proud of Quincy. With him as the coach you know we will always have a fighting chance be back on top!

Another big family news story of the week was that my mom was diagnosed with Diabetes. At first we thought it was Type II, which is normally the case for her age but upon further tests and exams with her doctor he told her that it was Type I and that she will be insulin dependant. This has been a rough week for her. She is a little shell shocked with this new way of life and I am so proud of my mom, my dad, and my sister Kelli for doing all they can to learn all about the carbs to "units" ratio etc. It is good to see everyone rallying behind her to help her change her life and I am sure it will change ours as well.
